The Holy Quran is the word of Allah (SWT), and it was not created. All the letters in the Holy Quran are directly from Allah (SWT), and the method of revealing the Holy Qur’an to the Prophet (ﷺ) is well known to Muslims. Allah (SWT) has said in many verses that the Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ) by Angel Jibril. The Holy Quran is the last holy book for all Muslims of the world. It is the perfect code of conduct for example not only in this world but also in the world to come. Every verse in the Holy Qur’an is important, and every Muslim should believe that not a single word in the Holy Qur’an is unnecessary. There are 144 Surahs in the Quran and each of them is full of God’s commands and blessings. All are essential to conveying positive or negative lessons or bringing countless blessings each Surah has a different number of verses. Surah with the highest number of verses is Surah Al-Baqarah, with 286 verses.

Surahs which are the most important to memorize?

Muslims have memorized the Quran since Allah first revealed it to the Prophet Muhammad (S). Usually memorizing the Quran usually starts when the children are young. Kids are the ones who can learn the Quran by heart easily because God does so. As they grow older, their capacity to memorize is reduced and their ability to think and understand is replaced. However, some Surahs bear special importance to be recited and memorized according to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the practice of the holy companions of Muhammad (PBUH).

  • Surah Al-Fatiha:

Surah Al-Fatiha is the opening Surah, the gate of the Quran, and is recited by Surah many times. It is a Surah to be recited by the authority in the five (compulsory) prayers. This Surah praises Almighty Allah and thus, it has the status of Ibadah (worship). It consists of 7 verses. The importance of Surah Fatiha is because it has several words, and each word has its meaning and significance.

  • Surah Al-Kahf

It is another Surah of the Quran with the most promising rewards and our holy prophet used to say it on Friday. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf every Friday, his sins in the middle of Friday will be forgiven, and memorizing the first ten verses of this Surah will save him from the rebellion of Dajjal. According to statistics, it is Surah 18 of the Holy Quran, containing 110 verses. However, it is important as it also protects against fitnah and a source of forgiveness. When it is recited, the Nur (Light) of Allah will shine from that person.

  • SURAH IKHLAS-FALAQ-NAAS

These three Surahs are better known as the three Quls. There are the Surahs that will protect us from any kind of evil. Therefore, nothing will harm him in any suffering if someone is addressed to him. Reading Surah Ikhlas is equivalent to reading one-third of the entire Qur’an.

“Whenever the Prophet went to bed, he would fold his arms and blow them after saying Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surat Al-Falaq, and Surat An-Nas, and then rub his hands over any part of his body he could rub, first on the head, face, and front of the body his. He used to do that three times. ”(Sahih Al-Bukhari).

  • Surah Yaseen

Surah Yaseen is considered the heart of the Quran as stated by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), everything has a heart and Surah Yaseen is the heart of the Quran. According to Hadith, reciting Surah Yaseen at one time will be more rewarding than repeating the whole Quran. This Surah, if memorized, will never allow a person to deviate. The Prophet also said that he would love someone who reads the heart of the Quran and keeps it in their hearts. It is recommended that we read it every morning after Fajr.

  • Surah Rahman

Surah Rahman is considered the most beautiful surah of the Quran and its recitation and memorization to cure a person of all various ailments and diseases. It cleanses the heart of the reader by memorizing all the messengers, worries, evils, and envy. It also improves mental health. it reminds one of how merciful Allah is. it is Surah who describes the various blessings of Allah to mankind in such a way, seeking his thanks to Allah.

  • Surah Mulk

When Surah al Mulk is recited before bedtime, Allah sends an angel to protect a person from any harm. It is Surah that guarantees man’s forgiveness and Allah’s mercy on him. All the surahs of the Quran are important, and their recurring showers comfort the disturbed souls of mankind. Therefore, to be a Muslim, it is important and rewarding to memorize these Surahs of the Quran. It saves a person from being tormented in the grave. Surah Mulk is a surah of only 30 verses and it is Surah, according to the Prophet, who will speak for us on the Day of Judgment and intercede for Allah on our behalf. It is also a surah of forgiveness, and while there is no limit to reading this surah in one day, it is recommended that you read it before bedtime.

“Abu Hurairah reports on the Messenger of Allah PBUH, I heard the Holy Prophet PBUH say: There is a Surah in the Quran containing thirty verses that have been praying for a man until his sins are forgiven.” (Al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud).

  • Surah waqia

Surah Waqiah is best known as the Surah of Wealth. The Prophet Muhammad realized that whoever reads this surah every night, will never experience poverty. The Prophet also commanded us for reading ourselves and for teaching our children. It is Surah that alleviates suffering and brings many world benefits in terms of our financial situation.

Which Surah to learn first?

A Muslim should learn Surah Al-Fatiha as the first Surah as it is a gateway of the Quran and opening Surah and is recited many times a day in five times in prayer. It is a Surah to be recited by the authority in the five (compulsory) prayers. Ubadah bin As-Samit reported Allah’s Messenger saying as: 

“Whoever does not recite Surat Al-Fatihah in his prayer, his prayer is invalid.” (Bukhari)

Similarly, Surah Yaseen and Surah Mulk should be learned by heart and read daily because they save a person from any future obstacles in life.
